KPK approves Rs18.232bn ADP for FATA

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has approved Annual Development Programme (ADP) for FATA worth Rs18.232 billion for the fiscal year 2016-17.

Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in a meeting at Governor House here, approved the FATA ADP and directed officials of the FATA Secretariat to ensure the transparency and quality in ongoing development schemes and construction works. He stressed that no compromise would be tolerated in this regard.

Secretary Planning and Development Fata Secretariat Shakil Qadar briefed the participants of the meeting about salient features of the upcoming FATA ADP and informed that a total of Rs18.232 billion were allocated for completion of 997 schemes including 773 ongoing and 224 new schemes.

He told that Rs14.9 billion were set aside for ongoing schemes and Rs3.2 billion for the new schemes.

The participants reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes in the tribal areas and over all position of the ADP for the current fiscal year. They expressed satisfaction over the achievements.

The governor, in his address with the meeting, said that the main objective of every project should be to improve the quality of life especially in poverty-hit tribal belt. He emphasized planning should be based on the needs of the tribesmen, asking the authorities to play an effective role and conduct field visits on regular basis.

He said FATA needs realistic development and directed the officials to expedite ongoing developmental schemes.

Jhagra directed the officials to ensure full utilization of funds and speedy completion of projects. He also directed concerned officials to ensure quarterly progress review meetings and completion of projects within stipulated time.
