The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have imposed new restrictions on entry to the Central Police Office (CPO) in Peshawar, requiring prior written approval for all police personnel.
According to an official letter issued by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police (Operations), the directive applies to officers of all ranks, from inspectors to constables. The notification has been circulated to all Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and heads of relevant police units.
Under the new instructions, police officials must obtain written permission from the relevant authority before entering the CPO. The approval must clearly state the purpose of the visit and the expected arrival time.
The letter also makes it clear that authorities will strictly prohibit entry without prior authorisation. Officials have warned that they will enforce the directive without exception.

Although the notification does not cite a specific reason, officials believe the move reflects concerns over the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier this week, KP Police also announced plans to establish Pakistan’s first dedicated drone technology unit. Officials confirmed that the unit will operate from the Nowshera Police Training Centre.
The specialised unit will include surveillance, attack, and operational drones, as well as anti-drone systems and jamming technology. According to police authorities, the project aims to strengthen modern policing and counter emerging security threats
Police officials said groundwork for the drone unit has already begun. A specialised IT team is developing the system, while selected personnel are undergoing advanced drone-technology training. The department has also launched a modern IT course for the unit’s first batch.
