Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi expressed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) steadfast support for the Pakistan Army in the face of any aggression. “Anyone who attacks Pakistan, including from across the border, will encounter a strong response,” Afridi stated during a meeting with senior journalists, alongside former minister Meena Khan. “PTI stands shoulder to shoulder with our army.”
Afridi, the recently elected Chief Minister, expressed frustration at not being allowed to meet with PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to discuss the formation of the cabinet. “Whoever Imran names will join the cabinet,” he confirmed, noting that Muzammil Aslam would be included. If he is denied access, Afridi plans to consult with senior PTI leaders. His goal is to introduce new faces while keeping the chief secretary and inspector general in their positions.
Afridi urged the federal government to involve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in policy decisions regarding Afghan refugees. With 1.2 million refugees still in the region, despite the return of hundreds of thousands, he emphasised the need for dignified repatriation without the use of force. Acknowledging previous government shortcomings, he stressed the importance of constructive criticism to safeguard KP’s interests.

Afridi vowed to uphold the rule of law, fighting battles in courts but warning of protests if justice is denied. “I’m here to bring change, not just run the government,” he said.
Afridi’s stance aligns PTI with national security, while his push for Khan’s consultation signals party unity. The refugee policy impacts regional ties.
