Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is discussing its final option to secure a meeting with imprisoned party founder Imran Khan. This statement comes amid ongoing health speculation and the party’s growing concerns about access to their leader.
Speaking to media at Rawalpindi’s Gorakhpur checkpoint, CM Afridi expressed the party’s frustration after exhausting all legal and democratic channels to arrange a meeting. “We want a one-on-one meeting with PTI founder to inquire about his health,” the chief minister stated.
Afridi revealed he wanted to join earlier protests outside the prison but was prevented by Khan’s sisters. This development follows Adiala jail administration’s official health update. They confirmed Khan remains in good health and is receiving proper medical care at the facility.

The KP chief minister strongly criticized the federal government, labeling the recent International Monetary Fund report as “a charge sheet against the current government.” He alleged a Rs5,300 billion corruption scandal. Moreover, he questioned the government’s mandate.
Afridi also commented on recent by-elections, claiming 95% of voters boycotted the polls in solidarity with PTI’s boycott call. “The people of Punjab expressed solidarity with the PTI founder by not voting,” he asserted.
A video circulating online shows CM Afridi questioning police officials at the checkpoint about his repeated denied visits. “This is the eighth time I’ve come — why am I not being allowed to meet the PTI founder?” he asked during the exchange.
The chief minister emphasized that previous negotiations with the government occurred on Khan’s directives but questioned their authority. The situation highlights ongoing tensions between PTI leadership and federal authorities regarding access to the imprisoned former prime minister.
