Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was reportedly detained in Islamabad, though conflicting reports have emerged about his status. Some sources maintain that he has not been arrested.
On Friday, sources confirmed that Gandapur was taken into custody at K-P House. His arrest followed allegations of attacking the state and misusing government resources, prompting officials to execute his arrest warrants during a raid.
Gandapur faces serious accusations, including damaging government property and unlawfully using state resources. The Islamabad Inspector General (IG) reportedly led the arrest and confirmed that legal proceedings would follow.
On the same day, the Peshawar High Court granted Gandapur a one-month protective bail, which prevents his arrest in all pending cases. His lawyer, Alam Khan Adinzai, confirmed this information.
The court explicitly directed that Gandapur should not be detained during this period. This protective bail was issued due to multiple charges against him, including misuse of state resources and damaging government property.
Adinzai emphasized that any attempt by Islamabad police to arrest Gandapur would violate the court’s order. “If they proceed with the arrest, it would be considered contempt of court,” he stated.
The protective bail comes amid concerns that law enforcement may target Gandapur for arrest. However, the Peshawar High Court’s decision temporarily shields him from legal action for the next month, highlighting ongoing tensions between Gandapur and law enforcement authorities. Despite his bail, questions regarding his political and legal challenges persist.
