Kid Rock has cancelled a scheduled stop of his Rock the Country tour in South Carolina, raising fresh questions about whether growing controversy and competition with Bad Bunny are affecting the tour.
The cancelled show was part of the Rock the Country festival, where Kid Rock was set to appear as a headliner. The event was planned for July 25 and 26, 2026, at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Centre in Anderson County.
County officials confirmed the cancellation in a statement to The Post & Courier. According to Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns, event promoters did not provide a specific reason for calling off the two-day concert.
However, multiple press reports suggest the decision followed a wave of artist withdrawals from the festival lineup. As more performers stepped away, organisers reportedly found it difficult to proceed with the event.

The cancellation comes amid broader controversy surrounding Kid Rock’s public positioning against Bad Bunny. Tensions escalated after Bad Bunny was selected to perform during the Super Bowl LX halftime show between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
In response, a competing concert, Turning Point USA, was announced. The show is scheduled to air at the same time as the Super Bowl halftime performance and features Kid Rock as its headliner.
The rival concert quickly sparked political and cultural debate. Critics accused the event of deepening divisions, while supporters framed it as an alternative for viewers unhappy with the halftime choice.
That division now appears to have reached the Rock the Country tour. Several artists originally scheduled to perform in Anderson withdrew from the lineup before the cancellation.

The artists who dropped out include Shinedown, Ludacris, Creed, Carter Faith, and Morgan Wade. Their departures significantly reduced the festival’s star power.
Shinedown publicly explained its decision in a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter. The band emphasised its desire to remain inclusive and avoid political or cultural division.
“Shinedown is everyone’s band,” the group stated. The band added that its purpose is to unite fans rather than divide them. As a result, Shinedown said it would not perform at the Rock the Country Festival.

Notably, the Anderson County show is the only Rock the Country date that has been cancelled so far. The tour includes eight scheduled stops, and the remaining dates currently remain intact.
Most of the other acts on the tour lineup are still expected to perform at future locations. Organisers have not announced additional cancellations at this time.
For now, it remains unclear whether the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl will have lasting effects on Kid Rock’s tour. However, the South Carolina cancellation highlights how cultural and political backlash can influence live music events.
