The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has declared a public holiday on the 1st of Muharram to celebrate the Islamic New Year.
This decision was confirmed via a notification from the Administrative Affairs Department last Thursday.
Government offices, educational institutions, and businesses will close on this day to honour the start of the Islamic calendar.
