Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah has threatened to take legal action against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for hurling “unsubstantiated allegations of corruption” against him.

Shah, a veteran Pakistan Peoples Party leader, told reporters on Thursday that he has requested the services of Raza Rabbani as his lawyer to serve a defamation notice to the PTI chief.

Over the past weeks, the PTI chief has accused Shah of involvement in financial improprieties and that graft inquiries against him were under way.

He also accused the PPP stalwart of showing undue favour to Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government in exchange for personal gain.

Earlier, former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry served a defamation notice to Imran, vowing to pursue the case against the PTI chief.

Shah revealed that Rabbani will be sending the notice to PTI chief within the next 24 hours. Rejecting Imran’s allegation, the PPP leader said that he pays Rs 2.5 million in taxes every year and was never implicated in any corruption case.
