Federal Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, has ignited controversy on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by sharing derogatory remarks targeting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and women affiliated with the party, leading to significant public backlash.
In a contentious post on X, Khawaja Asif made unsubstantiated claims against Imran Khan, including offensive comments about various women associated with PTI and Khan’s wife. The post insinuated that while Khan had exposed various political entities and leaders, he had not subjected himself to similar scrutiny.
A senior federal minister’s sharing of such content has elicited strong reactions from social media users, journalists, and members of civil society, prompting calls for legal action against Asif under defamation laws.
Journalist Obaid Bhatti sharply criticized Khawaja Asif, suggesting he was more suited to the title “Minister of Filth” due to his derogatory language. Bhatti lamented the moral state of a nation that tolerates such disrespect from its leaders, indicating a societal decline.
