The Sindh High Court has granted pre-arrest bail to Khalid Bin Shaheen. He is  a closed relative of former petroleum minister Dr. Asim Hussain.

Khalid Bin Shaheen, is the brother in law of Dr. Asim. He had pleaded to the court for a pre-arrest bail, as he apprehended an imminent arrest in connection with the money siphoned off abroad allegedly by the former federal minister and a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Khalid is a Senior Executive Vice President and group chief of National Bank of Pakistan’s Home Remittance Department.

In his plea, the petitioner said the Rangers are demanding him to present the details regarding the money sent abroad by Dr. Asim. However, he claimed that his relative did not transfer any money out of the country through National Bank.

Khalid said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also issued a summon notice for an inquiry against him. But, he asserted, “I do not have a hand in any corruption or embezzlement, whatsoever.”

The petitioner pleaded with the court to allow him protection against the arrest as he fears that he will be taken into custody any time.

The paramilitaries have already interrogated him for at least three hours regarding Dr. Asim’s corruption.
