Los Angeles: In a shocking revelation from his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, Kevin Federline claims that Britney Spears once stood silently in their sons’ bedroom holding a knife.
The excerpt, obtained by The New York Times, describes a disturbing scene. According to Federline, their sons — Sean Preston and Jayden James — sometimes woke up to find their mother watching them from the doorway.
“They would awaken at night to see her standing there, holding a knife,” Federline writes. “She would leave quietly, without saying anything.”
Federline, now 47, said the incident left him “deeply unsettled.” He adds that it made him fear for their children’s safety.
“This feels like it’s heading toward something irreversible,” he wrote, adding that it was becoming “impossible to pretend everything’s OK.”
The memoir, set for release on October 21, marks the first time Federline has shared such personal details about their private life. A representative for Britney Spears has not responded to the allegations.

Spears’ relationship with her sons has been strained for years, especially after her 13-year conservatorship ended in 2021. In 2023, the boys moved to Hawaii with Federline, creating more distance between them and their mother.
Reports suggest they recently began to reconnect, though the relationship remains fragile.
Speculation about Spears’ mental health has resurfaced in recent months. In September, reports claimed her home was messy and “covered in dog poop.” Spears denied those claims online, criticising what she called “unfair media judgment.”

She also posted several videos dancing with what she said were fake knives, which reignited public concern. A 2023 TMZ documentary alleged that she sleeps with a knife under her bed a claim she has never confirmed.
Her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, made similar allegations in 2022, saying Britney once threatened her with a knife. Britney denied the accusation, writing, “I’d never do such a thing.”
The claims in Federline’s book have divided public opinion. Some critics accuse him of exploiting private trauma, while others see it as an effort to protect their children. As the memoir’s release date approaches, the world will be watching for Britney Spears’ response and whether the revelations affect her ongoing relationship with her family.
