Katy Perry launched her 2025 Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City on April 25, delivering a dazzling blend of interstellar theatrics and futuristic fashion.

The 40-year-old pop icon, clad in a metallic bodysuit, captivated fans with space-inspired choreography and galactic stage visuals. The performance, infused with cosmic aesthetics, set a stellar tone for her global tour.

Perry’s tour opener was a spectacle of shimmering outfits and otherworldly energy. At one point, she invited two fans in NASA suits to join her onstage, amplifying the space-age theme. The production’s immersive visuals and choreography reflected Perry’s bold artistic vision, earning cheers from the Mexico City crowd.

Reflecting on the Blue Origin Journey

During the show, Perry paused to reference her April 14, 2025, Blue Origin space trip aboard Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket. “Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?” she asked, addressing critics of her 11-minute journey. The mission included notable passengers like Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn. Floating weightlessly, Perry sang a snippet of “What a Wonderful World” and later kissed the ground upon landing, joined by fiancé Orlando Bloom and their daughter, Daisy Dove.

Perry shared her gratitude on Instagram, writing, “Taking up space AND making room in space for all-143,” thanking Blue Origin and her “space sisters.” She also told PEOPLE, “We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut,” adding a playful spin to the experience.

Not all reactions to Perry’s space trip were positive. Actress Olivia Munn, speaking Today with Jenna and Friends, questioned the mission’s timing amid global challenges, calling it out of touch. Perry’s onstage comments in Mexico City framed the journey as a symbol of pursuing ambitious dreams, subtly countering such critiques.

Lifetimes Tour Global Journey

The Lifetimes Tour continues with additional Mexico City shows, followed by U.S. dates in May, Australia in June, and further U.S. performances in the summer. South America and Europe follow in the fall, concluding in November. The tour’s cosmic aesthetic ties to Perry’s Blue Origin experience, blending personal milestones with her signature theatricality.

Perry’s tour opener showcased her performance prowess and positioned her space journey as a defining moment. By embracing the stage and the stars, she’s redefining what it means to dream big. As the Lifetimes Tour progresses, Perry’s cosmic narrative promises to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
