Kate Middleton is set to make her first public appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis by attending the Trooping the Colour parade this weekend.
The Duchess of Cambridge last appeared publicly before sharing news of her illness in March. She has been battling an unspecified cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.
In a heartfelt statement on Friday, the 42-year-old mother of three discussed her treatment journey. She highlighted the fluctuations in her recovery, noting the mix of good and bad days associated with chemotherapy.
“There are days when fatigue overwhelms you, and you must rest,” she shared.
However, she also mentioned the better days. “When I feel stronger, I’m eager to make the most of the day,” she added.
Despite these challenges, Middleton is committed to participating in the upcoming parade celebrating the King’s birthday.
She conveyed her resolve to be present despite her health challenges. “I am excited to attend The King’s Birthday Parade with my family and plan to engage in more public events this summer. However, I know my recovery is ongoing,” she explained.
Middleton also discussed the importance of patience and adaptability during her recovery. “I’m learning to take one day at a time, listen to my body, and allow myself the time to heal,” she said.
Last week, Middleton regretted missing an important rehearsal with the Irish Guards. She was appointed as honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards by King Charles last year, shortly before her diagnosis was discovered during abdominal surgery in January.
Regarding future appearances, Middleton has largely stepped back from public duties since her diagnosis.
A source informed Us Weekly of the significant impact of her treatment, suggesting that “she may never return to her former role in the same capacity. She is currently reevaluating her future engagements.”
