Kashish Chaudhary, a 25-year-old from Noshki, Balochistan, has become the first Hindu woman appointed as Assistant Commissioner in the province, a historic milestone celebrated widely on social media.
After passing the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, Chaudhary met with Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti on May 12, 2025, pledging to empower women and minorities. Her achievement highlights the growing success of Hindu women in Pakistan’s male-dominated fields.
Chaudhary’s appointment represents a significant advancement for minority representation in Balochistan, one of Pakistan’s least developed regions. She is from the remote town of Noshki in the Chagai district and successfully passed the competitive BPSC exam after dedicating three years to disciplined study, committing eight hours a day to her preparation, as she mentioned in an interview with Samaa News. “Discipline, hard work, and the desire to contribute to society drove me,” she stated.

On May 12, Chaudhary, accompanied by her father, Girdhari Lal, met Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti in Quetta. She expressed her commitment to advancing women’s and minority rights. Bugti hailed her as a “symbol of pride for the nation,” while Lal called her success a “matter of great pride,” noting her lifelong dream to uplift women. The meeting, shared on the Chief Minister’s Office X account, underscored her role as a trailblazer.
Chaudhary serves as a beacon for young women and minorities, actively challenging the cultural and social barriers in Balochistan, a region often affected by separatist tensions, as illustrated by recent attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army. Her role has the potential to promote inclusive development, in line with her commitment to Bugti.
