The Karachi traffic police announced on Monday that two lanes of the main University Road, from Safura to Samama, will be closed to traffic due to ongoing development work for the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.
In response to these closures, the traffic police have arranged alternative routes for commuters. Traffic is being diverted from NIPA to the turning at Dow University (Ojha Campus) and directed towards Safura via Sachal.
Additionally, vehicles travelling from Safura will be rerouted to Jauhar Chowrangi, and traffic from Samama will be directed back to NIPA.
Officers are stationed at key points along these alternative routes to assist travellers and ensure a smooth traffic flow.
While this development project aims to enhance the BRT service in Karachi, it remains unclear how long the construction will last or when the University Road lanes will reopen to traffic.
