As the cool weather intensifies in the port city, temperatures at Jinnah Terminal plunged to single digits last night. Meteorological data indicated a low of 9.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night.
Karachi experienced its coldest night-time temperature at 11.3°C over the past 24 hours. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures varied across the city, dropping to 10°C in Gulistan-e-Johar, 12°C in Sharea Faisal, 12.5°C in Mauripur, and 12.2°C in Bin Qasim.
The average December temperature in Karachi is usually around 13.4°C. Over the next 24 hours, the city is expected to remain dry and cool at night, potentially reaching as low as 10°C. The current humidity level is 48%, and northeast winds blow at 10 km/h.
The cold wave affecting Sindh is set to continue, especially in Tharparkar, where night-time temperatures could dip to 2°C in the southeastern parts of the province. Upper and central Sindh are expected to hover between 6°C and 7°C.
Meanwhile, Quetta and surrounding areas are experiencing a severe cold spell, with today’s minimum temperatures hitting -4°C in the city and -6°C in Kalat. The weather will likely remain clear but extremely cold across the provincial capital, northern areas, and several districts in Balochistan, with mountainous regions facing harsh conditions.
Additionally, residents of Quetta, Kalat, and Ziarat are dealing with low gas pressure, posing significant challenges during the freezing temperatures.
