Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has expressed grave concerns about criminals penetrating the private security industry, describing it as an intensifying national “cancer.”
During the launching of a sophisticated monitoring initiative, which included installing eight new security cameras near the Chinese Consulate, Javed Alam Odho emphasized the urgent need for stricter regulations.
Odho announced that the Home Department was drafting legislation to enhance oversight of private security firms, underscoring the critical need for accountability. He also warned that if security company owners neglect to vet their guards thoroughly, they might face criminal prosecution.

He also highlighted ongoing investigations by intelligence agencies, including the Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau, into these security breaches.
To strengthen law enforcement, the Additional IG pointed out that authorities rigorously enforce laws against illegal vehicle modifications—such as tinted windows, fancy license plates, and public firearm displays.
In the past week alone, police have issued nearly 6,000 traffic citations, registered 940 cases, and seized multiple vehicles to combat non-compliance.
