Police in Karachi have arrested two suspects accused of sexually abusing a large number of children, following an intelligence-led operation described by officials as one of the city’s most significant this year.
Acting on credible intelligence, the East Investigation Police apprehended the suspects from Mehmoodabad, within the limits of Tipu Sultan Police Station. The main accused was identified as Imran, while his alleged accomplice was named Waqas Khan.
According to Karachi Police, the arrests followed identification by a child during a targeted raid carried out by a special investigation team. Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation East) Usman Sadozai said Imran operated a puncture repair stall in Mehmoodabad and resided in Manzoor Colony.
Investigators disclosed that between 2020 and 2025, seven cases of child sexual abuse were formally reported across Karachi’s Malir, Korangi, East, and South districts. Forensic DNA analysis confirmed that the same individual was involved in all registered cases, prompting intensified surveillance and investigation.

All identified victims were boys aged between 12 and 13 years. In one case, police said the child was assaulted by more than one person. DNA profiles from all seven cases matched those of the accused, and several victims also provided direct identification during the investigation.
SP Sadozai stated that the primary suspect confessed to abusing multiple children over several years. Police allege he lured victims by offering motorcycle rides before taking them to isolated locations near the Malir Nadi. In one reported incident, the suspects attempted to take a child toward Surjani Town but fled after the victim raised an alarm.
The operation was launched after Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan constituted a special investigation team on January 6, under the supervision of DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider. The team, led by East Investigation, arrested the suspects within 11 days.
Several senior officers from Malir, Korangi, South, and East investigation units were part of the probe. Police said further investigations are ongoing to determine whether additional victims may be involved.
