On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Karachi police uncovered a well designed for illegal oil and gas theft near Malir. During their investigation, they also discovered the body of an unidentified man. The well, situated far from the pipelines of the Pakistan Petroleum Corporation (PARKO), was emitting strong odours of oil and gas, which complicated the rescue efforts.
Officials from PARKO and Sui Gas are on-site assisting with the investigation. Representatives from PARKO indicated that the location of the well suggests it is not connected to their operations. The police are working to identify the deceased individuals and to determine the circumstances surrounding the well’s use for illegal activities.

This discovery comes on the heels of a recent case in Bin Qasim, where Ashraf was arrested following a shootout while attempting to steal oil from PARKO’s main supply line. Ashraf, identified as a key figure in an oil theft gang, sustained injuries during the arrest, and weapons were recovered at the scene.
