A heavy contingent of police has been deployed at Numaish Chowrangi of the magapolis of Karachi, where supporters of executed cold blooded murderer Mumtaz Qadri are staging a sit-in.
Baton-wielding police personnel have also reached the sit-in spot.
Meanwhile, shopkeepers in Khudadad Colony, neighbourhood of Numaish Chowrangi, shut down their businesses as police advanced to the sit-in site.
The move came an hour after the federal government gave a two-hour ultimatum to the protesters staging sit-in in Islamabad to evacuate the Red Zone area.
The government has sent a message to the religious leaders that action would be taken against the activists if they don’t disperse in the given time.
Thousands of police and paramilitary troops have also been deployed at Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
Meanwhile, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, a renowned cleric, advised the government to refrain from using force against the religious activists.
He warned the government that it would be impossible for the religious leaders to remain detach with the protesters in case of any untoward incident that occurred as a result of use of force.
