Karachi: Fire broke out in a shoe godown located in Shershah area of Karachi, reducing to ashes raw materials worth millions.
The fire erupted in the shoe godown at around 5am today, prompting firefighters to reach the scene.
The fire officials categorised the blaze as third degree and subsequently called 20 fire tenders and four water bowsers, making hectic efforts to put out the blaze that engulfed the godown within minutes.
Cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately. Reports said factory raw materials worth millions were reduced to ashes as a result of the fire. No casualty, however, was reported in the incident.
Chief fire officer said the firemen were facing difficulties in the firefighting and could not find any way to reach the fire epicenter.
He said the godown was filled with rubber, lather, chemicals and other materials used in shoe making.
