The Civil Judge Judicial Magistrate of Karachi West has granted Dua Bhutto a divorce (Khula) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh after unsuccessful attempts at reconciliation.
In her petition, Tahira alias Dua Bhutto cited a lack of financial support from Haleem Adil Sheikh for herself and their child as the primary reason for seeking the divorce. She expressed her unwillingness to continue the marital relationship under these circumstances.
The court has approved Dua Bhutto’s request for Khula and ordered Haleem Adil Sheikh to pay Rs. 24,000 in monthly child support. The matter of child support expenses has been adjourned until September 21.
Haleem Adil Sheikh married Dua Bhutto in 2018 as his second wife. Dua Bhutto initially filed for Khula in 2022 but withdrew her application following a brief reconciliation before filing it again.
In her application, Dua Bhutto stated that she was unaware of Haleem Adil Sheikh’s first marriage at the time of their own in 2018, which involved a dowry of Rs. 500,000 that remains unpaid. She also mentioned that their son, Kamal Haleem, was born on September 10, 2019. She argued that interference from Haleem Adil Sheikh’s first wife and children had adversely affected her life, further justifying her request for separation.
