Karachi: Cops killing case registered, joint police-rangers investigation launched

The Police have formally registered case of killing of at least seven police personnel, guarding polio teams in Karachi’s Orangi Town slum area.

The case was lodged at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Garden against unidentified persons, SSP CTD Naveed Khawaja said.

Terrorism and murder charges have been included in the FIR.

Naveed Khawaja said all the cases pertaining to murder of police officials would be registered at CTD Garden, adding that counter terrorism department would investigate all such cases.

Investigation has been launched into the killing following registration of the case.

The police personnel were martyred in two separate firing incidents in Karachi when unidentified armed men targeted their mobiles in Orangi Town on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police launched crackdown against the miscreants and apprehended 18 persons including a women from Orangi Town, Defence, Sheeri Jinnah colony and other areas.
