Cold weather is expected to intensify in Karachi, with night-time temperatures forecast to fall into the single digits over the weekend, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
A spokesperson for the PMD said the city’s minimum temperature could drop to around 9 degrees Celsius overnight between Saturday and Sunday. From Thursday onward, nighttime temperatures are likely to remain between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius, then decline further over the weekend.
Residents may experience colder conditions due to persistent northeasterly winds across Karachi and the surrounding areas. These winds are expected to lower the “feels-like” temperature, particularly during late night and early morning hours.

Despite the cold spell, the PMD has ruled out any rainfall in Karachi and other parts of Sindh over the next 10 days. Dry weather is expected to prevail across the province, providing little relief from the cold at night and early mornings.
The spokesperson added that a western weather system could affect the upper regions of the country around January 18 or 19. However, it remains uncertain whether this system will extend its impact to Sindh. A clearer outlook on any possible weather changes in the province will be issued later.
Citizens, especially children, the elderly, and people with health conditions, have been advised to take precautionary measures as temperatures continue to fall in the coming days.
