As the votes from Sindh’s local government elections concluded last Sunday, votes are still being counted in Karachi, and clashes between the political parties, groups, and supporters are reported in the different parts of the city.
The areas where the clashes were reported include District Keamari, Malir Halt, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and Qayyumabad are hostile regions.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protested outside the district returning officer (DRO) office in the SITE area of district Keamari, where Pakistan Peoples Party workers were also present. Two opposing parties’ supporters screamed slogans against one another.
Also, in Keamari, employees of the two political groups threw stones at each other outside the district commissioner’s office, hurting two journalists.
An additional police detachment was already posted, and a water cannon was sought outside the DC office in anticipation of the PTI’s anticipated demonstration, which PPP employees also attended.
One individual was hurt due to stone-throwing outside the DRO office in district Keamari, where police also employed baton charges.
PTI Sindh President Ali Zaidi commented on the clashes, stating that the PPP attacked after planning and dispatching thugs. The politician further stated that he had not communicated with anyone.
