A technical issue with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration system at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport caused delays for Sunday morning arrivals.
Reports indicate that a glitch occurred between 3 AM and 4 AM, causing delays in processing international passengers and resulting in long queues at the arrivals section. The disruption left travellers waiting as officials worked to keep things moving.
FIA staff switched to manual processing to handle the backlog, ensuring that immigration checks continued despite the technical issues. Airport insiders reported that the IT team responded quickly, resolving the problem by morning. Systems are now back online and functioning smoothly. Although the hiccup tested the patience of many, it did not significantly disrupt operations at Pakistan’s busiest airport for long.

Recently, Jinnah International Airport has been in the headlines again. Earlier, a flight from Sharjah to Dhaka made an emergency landing after a passenger’s health significantly deteriorated mid-air. Although the plane was cleared by air traffic control to land, medics from the Civil Aviation Authority found that the passenger had unfortunately passed away. After a two-hour delay, the flight resumed at 6:15 AM.
Karachi’s airport continues to make news whether it be for technical issues or incidents during flights.
