The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) has launched a Face Recognition System at Karachi airport to prevent criminals from fleeing the country.
The system, operational exclusively at Karachi airport, is now linked with onsite surveillance cameras. FIA requested data from Sindh Police to populate the face recognition database.
When an identified individual passes through the camera view, the system will trigger an alert in the monitoring room, say FIA authorities.
However, since the system is yet to be activated at other major airports, such as Islamabad and Lahore, identifying and appraising wanted individuals may still prove challenging.
