Brazilian fashion model Kamila Rodrigues Cardoso underwent a remarkable life transformation, abandoning her modelling career for religious devotion at the age of eighteen. Now known as Sister Eva, her journey from beauty pageants to convent life has attracted international attention through social media platforms.
The native of Patos de Minas, Brazil, previously achieved success in the fashion industry, winning the Miss Rising Sun Teen Continent competition. Her pageant victory led to participation in Miss Brazil and subsequently Miss Universe, establishing her within competitive modelling circles.
Rodrigues’s decision to pursue a religious life emerged from a profound personal experience rather than a sudden impulse. She experienced a significant loss at age nine when her father passed away, an event that later contributed to mental health challenges during her modelling career.

In an interview with ‘The Noite’ program, Rodrigues explained, “During my time as a model, I thought I would have found my vocation, but losing my father, I suffered from depression and anxiety. I started to think that being a model no longer filled my heart.”
The former model discovered her religious calling through a gradual process of spiritual exploration. Rodrigues began attending church services and praying the rosary regularly while questioning her career path. A transformative moment occurred during a homily when she observed a nun passing by.
“I saw in her a very intense light,” Rodrigues recalled. “I began to admire her clothes, to study the life of a nun and to see myself with the cassock and the veil.” This experience initiated her serious consideration of religious life as her true vocation.
Upon entering the convent, Rodrigues selected the name Eva, symbolically referencing the first woman in Biblical tradition. Now twenty-one years old, she serves within the Congregation of Santa Dei Genitrix, an institution independent of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church in Brazil.
While maintaining discretion about her personal life, Sister Eva utilises social media platforms to share her spiritual activities and community work. Recent attention emerged when video footage showed her selling religious items, demonstrating her continued commitment to both faith and service
