Arch-rivals Pakistan and India will once again vie for the Kabaddi World Cup title when they take on each other in the final in India on Saturday.
It’s a repeat of last year’s final when a fiery contest was witnessed between the two sides, with more at stake than just the title.
India had been beaten in the Asia Cup final by hosts Pakistan as the visitors made a technical foul and did not accept their mistake. They decided to leave the field at a time when they were being beaten convincingly by Pakistan.
Few months later, both sides clashed in the World Cup final, this time on Indian soil, and as expected there were some fireworks and Pakistan were thrashed in a one-sided match amidst complaints of unfair play against India.
Tomorrow will be no different as Pakistan is keen to avenge last year’s defeat and pride is at stake for both sides.
Pakistan made light work of Iran in their semi-final, winning with ease by a score of 56-28, a surprise given Iran’s strong team, while the Indians thrashed England 54-33.
Meanwhile, in the women’s semi-finals, Pakistan was beaten by India with a score of 47-19.
The hosts will now be up against New Zealand in the final.
