K-Electric (KE) launched a dedicated microsite enabling customers in Karachi to monitor their area’s power status and loss profile in real time, enhancing transparency and empowerment.
As announced by a KE spokesperson, the K-Electric microsite, accessible with a KE Account Number, provides insights into energy network performance.
The Power Status Portal enables users to monitor the reliability of electricity in their area, which promotes timely bill payments and helps reduce power theft, ultimately improving supply. “This initiative is about providing information back to the community,” a spokesperson stated, highlighting that 70% of Karachi Electric’s feeders are now free from load-shedding, a significant increase from just 6.6% at the time of privatisation. The platform also educates users about the legal consequences of power theft and offers an option for anonymous reporting through speakup@ke.com.pk.
Since January 2025, K-Electric has conducted 13,416 anti-theft drives, removing 171,298 kg of illegal kundas. In collaboration with law enforcement, these efforts aim to stabilise supply in high-loss areas. The K-Electric anti-theft campaign emphasises collective accountability.
