On July 31, 2025, the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh, Justice (r) Shahnawaz Tariq, ordered the removal of K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi after he was found guilty of harassing a female employee.
The ruling, issued under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 million on Alvi, which must be paid within one month. If he fails to comply, his assets, CNIC, and passport may be frozen.

Moonis Alvi’s Response
Alvi described the verdict as “deeply distressing” and claimed that it does not accurately represent his version of events. In his statement, he said, “I respect the legal process, but I must, in good conscience, reject the findings as inaccurate.” He announced his plans to appeal the ruling and remains determined to uncover the truth. Alvi expressed gratitude for the support he has received from colleagues and emphasised his commitment to maintaining dignity in the workplace.
Alvi joined K-Electric in 2008, initially serving as CFO, Company Secretary, and Head of Treasury before becoming CEO in 2018. The K-Electric board reappointed him on July 7, 2025, effective July 30, 2025, just before the ombudsman’s ruling.
