President Mamnoon Hussain has approved Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s advice for appointment of the senior most Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja as Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The appointment of Justice Jawad S. Khawaja will take effect on August 17, 2015 after superannuation of Mr Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Chief Justice of Pakistan, on attaining the age of 65 years w.e.f. August 16, 2015.
The President approved the Prime Minister’s advice on a summary initiated by the Law, Justice and Human Rights Division.
A press release issued in this respect from the President’s Office here reads: “On a summary initiated by Law, Justice and Human Rights Division, the President has approved the Prime Minister’s advice for appointment of senior most Judge of the Supreme Court Mr. Justice Jawad S. Khawaja as Chief Justice of Pakistan w.e.f. 17th August, 2015 after superannuation of Mr. Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Chief Justice of Pakistan, on attaining the age of 65 years w.e.f. 16th August, 2015”
