In a supplementary note, Justice Athar Minallah of the Supreme Court of Pakistan recommended that petitions alleging electoral rigging in the February 8 elections be consolidated with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) reserved seat case.
Justice Athar Minallah emphasized the need to provide a level playing field for all political entities, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Furthermore, in a separate legal context concerning reserved seats for the Sunni Ittehad Council, Justice Minallah expressed his concerns about the Election Commission’s interpretation of the Supreme Court’s judgment.

The Election Commission acknowledged that their interpretation led to the disqualification of a major party, an outcome that the Supreme Court had not intended.
As Justice Minallah noted, this misinterpretation unjustly excluded a significant political party from the electoral process, infringing upon the voters’ fundamental right to choose their representatives.
