Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is set to marry Shanzay Asghar. The bride is the granddaughter of Sheikh Rohale Asghar, a former Member of the National Assembly and longtime ally of the Sharif family.
Sheikh Rohale Asghar confirmed the engagement in a recent interview. He revealed the wedding festivities are scheduled for January 16, 17, and 18, 2026.
The events will include a joint mehndi and valima ceremony hosted by the Sharif family at their Jati Umra estate. The bride’s family will host a reception at the Lake City Golf and Country Club in Lahore.
Asghar explained the family’s close connection. He noted his granddaughter, Shanzay, is a close friend of Junaid’s sister, Mahnoor Safdar. The families frequently visited each other’s homes.
He stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally approached Shanzay’s father with the marriage proposal. The final dates were decided during a meeting hosted by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
For Junaid Safdar, this will be his second marriage. He previously married Ayesha Saif Khan, daughter of former NAB chairman Saifur Rehman Khan, in 2021. That wedding featured multiple lavish events in London, Lahore, and Islamabad. The couple announced their divorce on social media in October 2023.
