Cardello-Smith accused Diddy of assaulting him in 1997 at a Holiday Inn in Detroit. Since the lawsuit was filed in 2024, it was well beyond the allowable period for seeking legal recourse.
Adding complexity to the case, Cardello-Smith had hoped to call Jennifer Lopez as a witness, claiming she had crucial information about the incident from dating Diddy years later. This move added intrigue and influenced the judge’s decision to dismiss the case.
