Jay-Z’s legal team has released audio recordings they claim prove his innocence in a now-dismissed rape lawsuit. Aired on “Good Morning America” on March 12, 2025, the tapes feature the accuser, Jane Doe, admitting Jay-Z attended a party but did not assault her—contradicting her initial allegations.

In the recording, Doe states, “Jay-Z was there but had no part in it.” Investigators pressed further, asking, “He didn’t have anything to do with sexual acts toward you?” She confirmed, “Yeah.” This bombshell undercuts her December 2024 Jay-Z rape lawsuit, which alleged he assaulted her at a 2000 MTV VMAs afterparty when she was 13.

EXCLUSIVE: "This person cannot be allowed to sort of hide from the reality that this was a false accusation."

Lawyer Accused of Misconduct

Even more startling, Doe accuses her attorney, Tony Buzbee, of pushing her to name Jay-Z. “He kind of pushed me toward going forward with Jay-Z,” she says. Buzbee denies this, telling Page Six, “The tape is a fabrication.” He claims investigators harassed Doe and distorted her words. Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, counters, “The tape speaks for itself. She told her truth voluntarily.”

Doe withdrew her lawsuit, which also implicated Sean “Diddy” Combs, but Jay-Z has now sued her, Buzbee, and associate David Fortney for defamation and malicious prosecution. His team alleges $20 million in reputational damage. Meanwhile, Buzbee’s credibility faces scrutiny after being denied practice in New York’s Southern District.

Jay-Z’s team demands Doe’s deposition to expose Buzbee’s role. “He’s an extortionist,” Spiro cites her conflicting statements. As the Jay-Z rape lawsuit saga unfolds, this audio could shift the narrative, bolstering his defense in a heated legal battle.
