Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs face serious allegations in a civil lawsuit accusing them of assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
The lawsuit was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. The lawsuit initially targeted Combs but was amended over the weekend to include Carter.
The anonymous accuser, identified as Jane Doe, alleges the assault took place at an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City. She claims a limousine driver approached her outside Radio City Music Hall and offered her a ride to an exclusive party.
Arriving at the venue, organizers reportedly asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Doe alleges she was given a drink that left her disoriented. Seeking a place to rest, she entered a bedroom, where, according to her claims, Carter assaulted her while Combs and an unidentified female celebrity looked on. She further accuses Combs of assaulting her afterwards.
Doe states she escaped the party and contacted her father from a nearby gas station. The lawsuit seeks damages for emotional and physical trauma.
Jay-Z Responds to Allegations
Jay-Z has denied the allegations, describing them as “outrageous” and a “blatant attempt at extortion.” In a statement, he urged the accuser to pursue criminal charges if the claims are true. “True justice comes from a criminal investigation, not a civil lawsuit,” Carter stated.

He expressed concern for his family, citing the emotional impact on his children. “My wife and I now have to explain these accusations to our kids, one of whom is old enough to hear this from their friends,” he added.
Combs, already facing multiple legal accusations, denied the claims in this lawsuit. He awaits trial on unrelated federal charges, including racketeering and trafficking, scheduled for May 2025.
