Jared Cannonier ended his two-fight losing streak with a dominant fourth-round TKO victory over Gregory Rodrigues in the main event of UFC Vegas 102 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Rodrigues started strong on a three-fight winning streak by landing heavy punches early in the fight. A straight right hand in the opening round knocked Cannonier to the canvas, but the veteran quickly recovered. Rodrigues continued to press forward, scoring another knockdown, though Cannonier managed to survive the round.
In the second round, Cannonier adjusted his strategy, using his jab and upping his output to slow Rodrigues down. He controlled the fight’s pace and landed crucial strikes to take the round.
By the third round, Cannonier’s pressure had taken its toll, causing Rodrigues to drop his guard. Cannonier landed a well-timed elbow in the clinch that sent Rodrigues to the mat, following up with ground-and-pound as the round ended.
Cannonier maintained his momentum in the fourth round, landing a series of body shots before overwhelming Rodrigues with strikes. The referee stopped the fight, awarding Cannonier the TKO victory and marking his return to the win column.
The thrilling fight earned both fighters the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus at UFC Fight Night Las Vegas.
