A Tokyo-based highway engineer, Toru Ueda, has turned into an internet sensation after investing approximately Rs7 million in a custom wolf costume. This 32-year-old fulfilled his childhood dream of personifying a powerful predator using this unique attire.
Ueda initially kept his identity concealed and recently revealed his lifestyle with the wolf suit. While he refrains from wearing it in public, he enjoys relaxing at home, using the suit as escapism. The awe-inspiring outfit, created by Zeppet Workshop – a company specializing in production and modelling for the film and TV industries – took over 50 days to make.
Finding Connection through Costume
For Ueda, the wolf suit is more than just an outfit; it’s an empowering experience where he feels an intimate connection with animals. His lifelong fascination with animals and lifelike suits inspired him to bring his dream to life. Ueda provided Zeppet with a comprehensive reference book of wolf photographs to ensure authenticity.
A Rising Trend
Interestingly, Zeppet has noticed an uptick in orders for realistic suits for personal use. Over 50 individuals have approached them with similar requests. Ueda isn’t the only one enjoying this distinctive trend; another Japanese man, Toco, spent around £12,500 to transform into a human-sized rough collie, documenting his experiences on YouTube. These unique transformations highlight how some individuals find pleasure and refuge in impersonating their favourite animals.
