At least 130 Palestinians were killed and 263 wounded in the past 48 hours as Israel resumed its bombing and ground operations in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The offensive comes as Israel intensifies pressure on Hamas to release remaining Israeli hostages. Israel’s renewed military campaign has targeted Hamas strongholds across Gaza, resulting in significant casualties and destruction.
The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that the majority of the victims were civilians, including women and children.

Cross-Border Strikes in Lebanon
In a related development, Israeli artillery fire and airstrikes hit southern Lebanon on Saturday after Israel intercepted rockets launched from across the border. This marks the first cross-border attack since a US-brokered ceasefire in November ended a year-long conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Israeli military stated that it intercepted three rockets fired from a Lebanese district approximately 6 km (4 miles) north of the border. In response, Israel launched artillery strikes on two towns in southern Lebanon and conducted airstrikes on three other towns closer to the border.

Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, did not immediately claim responsibility for the rocket launches. The group has previously engaged in prolonged conflicts with Israel, including a devastating war in 2006.

The recent strikes threaten to unravel the fragile truce since November. The earlier conflict between Israel and Hezbollah was one of the deadliest spillovers of the Gaza war, resulting in significant losses for both sides.
The resumption of Israel’s offensive has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where residents face severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. International organizations have called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life.
