Iran has accused Israel of violating a ceasefire agreement with a series of military strikes on June 24, 2025, targeting its nuclear facilities. The allegations, reported by Iranian state media, have heightened regional tensions, with Tehran vowing a decisive response.

According to the spokesperson of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, Israel conducted three waves of strikes on Iranian targets until 9 a.m. local time (0530 GMT). Iranian state TV had announced a ceasefire effective from 7:30 a.m., which Iran claims Israel disregarded. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated its armed forces are ready to “decisively respond” to any further aggression, signalling potential retaliation.

Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, confirmed efforts to restore the country’s nuclear program and assess damage to affected facilities. “We have taken necessary measures and are currently assessing the damaged areas,” Eslami told Iran’s Mehr news agency, as reported by Al Jazeera. He emphasised the anticipated attacks and plans to ensure nuclear production and services continuity.

The alleged ceasefire violation follows a 12-day conflict that began with Israel’s surprise attacks on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure on June 13, 2025. The ceasefire, brokered by the U.S. and Qatar, aimed to de-escalate hostilities. Iran’s accusations, coupled with its commitment to retaliate, raise concerns about renewed conflict and regional instability. Global markets, which surged after the ceasefire announcement, may face volatility if tensions escalate.

BREAKING: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has instructed the Israeli military to “respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes on Tehran,” according to media reports.

The international community watches closely as Iran evaluates the damage and prepares its response. The U.S., a key ally of Israel, has not commented on the latest allegations, while diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation continue. Observers urge all parties to adhere to the ceasefire to avoid a broader conflict.
