After the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Islamabad rally, police intervened and cleared the stage, containers, and barbed wire from the rally site in Tarnol.
The police clarified that the clearance was due to the absence of a valid NOC. The Islamabad administration stated that while no arrests have been made, they would take strict legal action against any attempts to breach the law.
Despite the NOC’s revocation, PTI decided to proceed with the rally. PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan affirmed that preparations were underway and that the rally would proceed regardless.
He criticized the government, labelling it “Form Forty-Seven” and suggesting confusion within its ranks. He accused the government of failing to organize rallies and obstructing a party with significant public support.
The Islamabad administration confirmed the suspension of the NOC for PTI’s planned rally, citing public safety and property concerns. The Chief Commissioner chaired a meeting to discuss these issues in the context of Muharram and current security conditions, which led to the decision to suspend the rally’s NOC.
