At least 77 elected office bearers of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) are exercising their right to elect their first-ever mayor and three deputy mayors of the Federal Capital today (Monday).
The polling is being held at Jinnah Convention Centre through secret ballot. Polling began at 9:00 a.m and will continue till 5:00 p.m without any interval.
Already elected chairpersons from 50 union councils of Federal Capital along with 27 members from reserved seats would elect mayor and deputy mayors.
The aspirant candidates of different political parties had filed their nomination papers for the seats of a mayor and deputies.
However, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sheikh Ansar Aziz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Raja Khuram Nawaz are strong candidates for mayor.
