Iran has arrested more than two dozen individuals, including senior intelligence officers, military personnel, and workers at a military-operated guesthouse, in response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The action stems from a substantial security breach on the day of the inauguration of Iran’s new president, marking a significant security failure.
According to The New York Times, Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, allegedly coordinated the placement of explosives in the guesthouse where Haniyeh was staying. Israel has not confirmed its involvement, but Iranian officials and Hamas leaders have attributed the assassination to Israel.
