The foldable smartphone market continues to expand, and Apple prepares to enter it with its first foldable device, the widely expected iPhone Fold.
Apple has been working on the foldable iPhone concept for over 5 years, according to industry reports. Competitors drive steady interest as they push foldable designs into the mainstream. Samsung dominates the segment with its Galaxy Fold lineup, but Apple prioritises refinement, performance, camera quality, and ecosystem integration.
Leaks reveal a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system with wide and ultra-wide sensors for high-end photography. An 18-megapixel front camera supports Centre Stage for automatic video call framing. Apple’s next-generation A20 chip, built on a 3-nanometer process, powers the device and boosts speed and efficiency. The iPhone Fold features a 7.8-inch inner OLED display with a minimised crease, plus an improved hinge for durability and screen smoothness

The design may follow a book-style fold, offering a more rectangular and wallet-like form factor than many existing foldables.
Apple may bring back Touch ID, embedding the fingerprint sensor into the power button. This approach would offer quick authentication without relying solely on facial recognition.
Battery capacity could reach around 4,700 mAh, with support for MagSafe wireless charging. If confirmed, this would mark Apple’s first foldable device to integrate MagSafe technology.
With premium hardware, advanced silicon, and tight ecosystem integration, the iPhone Fold could reshape competition in the foldable category. Analysts say Apple’s brand strength and loyal user base give the device strong potential to disrupt the market.
