The iPhone 18 Pro Max battery is at the centre of new speculation following a recent leak that suggests a major capacity upgrade. According to reports, Apple’s next flagship could feature a battery capacity exceeding 5,000 mAh, a notable milestone for the iPhone lineup.

The information has generated excitement among users hoping for longer battery life in future iPhones.

The report, first highlighted by Gizmochina, cites Digital Chat Station, a well-known source for mobile technology leaks. The tipster claims the iPhone 18 Pro Max could launch with a battery capacity above 5,000 mAh.

Some international variants may even exceed 5,200 mAh. If accurate, this would mark a clear step forward in Apple’s battery strategy.

A20 Pro chip expected to boost efficiency

Alongside the battery upgrade, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip. The processor is rumoured to be built on a 2nm process, offering improved performance and energy efficiency.

While the exact manufacturing node remains unclear, reports suggest Apple may opt for TSMC’s standard N2 process rather than the more expensive N2P version.

Despite the higher battery capacity, analysts believe the real benefit could come from efficiency rather than sheer size. The combination of a larger battery and a more efficient A20 Pro chip could deliver noticeable gains in real-world usage.

However, some experts caution that the jump may not feel as dramatic as in recent Pro Max models, which already offer strong battery life.

Another online report suggests Apple is developing advanced battery technology for future iPhones. This includes silicon-anode battery chemistry, which allows higher energy density without increasing physical size.

Such technology could make a 5,000mAh-plus battery possible without making the iPhone 18 Pro Max bulkier, addressing long-standing design concerns.

As with all early leaks, these claims should be treated cautiously. Apple has not commented on the iPhone 18 lineup, and specifications could change before release.

Still, Digital Chat Station’s track record lends credibility to the report. If accurate, it suggests Apple is prioritising battery life more aggressively in its next flagship.
