Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations for Islamabad, Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari, has issued a statement urging residents of Islamabad to take precautionary measures before departing for the Eid holidays.
In his video message focused on the security of the federal capital’s citizens, DIG Bukhari recommended that those travelling to their ancestral homes for the Eid celebrations should implement adequate security protocols for their residences. He suggested notifying their newspaper distributors to halt deliveries during their absence to avoid signs of an empty home.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of securely locking homes and verifying that all security measures are in place before departure. Residents are also advised to inform their local police station of their absence.
This guidance coincides with the government’s announcement of the Eid al-Fitr public holidays. The notification outlines that offices operating on a six-day week will observe holidays from April 10 to April 13, while those on a five-day schedule will have holidays from April 10 to April 12, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all during this festive period.
