A passenger, later identified as Sahil Kataria, physically assaulted a pilot aboard an IndiGo flight during an announcement about delays, an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
The event unfolded on the IndiGo flight 6E-2175 from Delhi to Goa, which experienced several hours of delay due to fog on Sunday.
Details of the Assault and Legal Actions
The assault occurred when Sahil Kataria, dressed in a yellow hoodie, rushed from the back of the plane and struck Anup Kumar, the flight’s co-captain.
Kumar had replaced the previous crew in adherence to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms and regulations designed to ensure the well-being of aviation personnel by mandating adequate rest and addressing fatigue-related safety risks. Following the incident, the pilot filed a complaint against Kataria, and the airline is proceeding to file an official case. The passenger was subsequently handed over to the authorities.
