The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data reveals the first four months of the current fiscal year 2022–23 show a negative increase of 2.9% for the large-scale manufacturing industries (LSMI).

The output of the LSMI declined by 7.75% for October 2022 compared to October 2021 and by 3.62% compared to September 2022, per the figures made public by PBS.

Compared to the same time in 2022–2023, the overall LSMI indicated a decline of 2.89%.

According to the report, the output of furniture and clothing climbed between July and October 2022 and 2021. It decreased in other industries such as food, tobacco, textile, pharmaceuticals, rubber goods, non-metallic products, fabricated metal, electrical equipment, etc.

Petroleum products (down 1.4 percent), cement (down 1.4 percent), medicines (down 1.8 percent), iron and steel products (down 0.2 percent), and autos were the main causes of the slowdown in LSMI during the first four months of FY-23 (1.5pc).
