Karachi-based journalist Imtiaz Mir succumbed to injuries from a shooting after a week in treatment at a private hospital.
The 35-year-old, working for a local TV channel, was attacked late Sunday night near Malir Kala Board. Korangi Police confirmed unidentified assailants fired at him, but no arrests have been made despite an ongoing investigation.
On September 22, 2025, Mir was driving when a man and woman on a motorcycle opened fire near Kala Board in Malir. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and face. Rescue teams rushed him to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition. Police recovered two bullet casings from his vehicle and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah condemned the attack, calling it an assault on journalism and humanity. “The Sindh government is committed to protecting journalists,” he said, assuring a court trial for the perpetrators. Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar ordered Korangi SSP to submit a report and ensure immediate arrests.
